Pre-drilling with a countersink is necessary for these beams. You screw the screw through the hardwood beam. The head of the screw is at the surface of the beam. Note, there is only 1 type of screw suitable for this wood. We deliver the correct type of screws that have enough strength to keep the hardwood beams properly in place.
We recommend to use our strong and special hardwood screws. You can either choose a metallic or black-coated screw. A dark black screw is less visible which gives a nicer end result.
Our screws are tested to make sure they are strong enough to keep the hardwood properly in place. Certainly not every type of screw is strong enough to resist these strengths. This is why we recommend to buy our screws, with full GUARANTEE of success. Our screws won't rust or oxidise.
A good foundation is built with these hardwood beams. If you use these beams as a joist under a deck, we recommend to limit the distance between the joists to 40 cm. We advise to use 3 hardwood foundation posts per square metre of the deck. You can make everything with these hardwood beams.
Our hardwood calculator calculates easily and quickly
The amounts and lengths of the joists, foundation posts and screws.
